President

James (Jaime) Ross is the President of Stonegate Private Counsel. Over the past decade, Jaime has held senior leadership roles and been instrumental in the growth of wealth and investment management firms.

As Vice-President, Services and Corporate Secretary at Synergy Asset Management, Jaime played a key role in one of Canada’s most innovative mutual fund companies, from its inception in 1998 to October 2003 when the firm was acquired by CI Financial. After the acquisition, Jaime assumed the position of Senior Vice President, Risk Management for Assante Wealth Management, overseeing compliance and learning functions across the organization and its affiliate, United Financial Corporation.

Jaime began his career as legal counsel at the Ontario Securities Commission and, over the course of seven years, gained experience in Capital Markets, the Office of the General Counsel and Market Operations – Investment Funds.

Jaime was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1990, after receiving his LL.B. from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario (Huron College).

In addition to being President of Stonegate, Jaime is also Senior Vice-President, Wealth and Estate Planning at Assante Wealth Management, an affiliated organization as part of the CI Financial group of companies. Assante is a leading provider of integrated wealth management solutions, designed to meet the needs and goals of individuals, families and businesses across Canada.
